AMMO - Web of Lies/Death Won’t Even Satisfy - Vinyl 12"

Ammo LP

Release Info

WRR035
AMMO – Web of Lies/Death Won’t Even Satisfy 12″ Vinyl

Web of Lies / Death Won’t Even Satisfy is the vinyl debut from this hardcore band from New Jersey, and it is a full-bore scorcher. Ammo plays ferocious US-style hardcore with a lunging, unhinged style that reminds me of groups like early Agnostic Front, Void, and Eye for an Eye-era Corrosion of Conformity… not so much in style, but in the way Ammo sounds like they’re maniacs who might materialize out of your home speakers in order to slash your throat. It’s a rare enough feat to capture this sort of wild energy on tape, but Ammo fuses this crazy energy with memorable songwriting, with tracks like “Black Site,” “Slam Slam Slam,” and “Ethnostate” hitting even harder because they’re so damn catchy. Sounding fast and crazy is Ammo’s forte, but their secret weapon is their ability to play at mid tempo, like on the crushing NYHC-style mosh part in “Known Unknown” and the singalong during the breakdown to the epic “All You Do (Is Want Me to Die).” I love music that expands hardcore’s boundaries, but Ammo isn’t that… they distill hardcore its essence, their sound ground down to the sharpness of a knife’s edge. This is not a record to sleep on.” (Daniel Lupton)

Dinged Up – Mucho Dolor LP – Vinyl 12″
Standard Black Vinyl

Joe Rankin and Dinged Up have been churning out earworms all across Maryland and the East Coast since 2013. “Mucho Dolor” is Dinged Up’s sophomore LP with all instrumentation and vocals recorded by Joe himself. It was originally released digitally in 2016, but it’s now properly seeing a physical reissue on LP thanks to a collaboration with Wallride Records. Joe had put Dinged Up on hold for a bit a couple years back, but reformed the group in 2019 with a solid lineup and they’re ready to support “Mucho Dolor” well into the future. The current crew includes players that have done time or still do time in such heavy hitters such as The Jons, Deep Sleep and Night Birds. That’s just a few examples of the serious pedigrees that comprise Dinged Up!

This is Dinged Up’s 2016 sophomore album, reissued for the first time physically for maximum impact in 2020.

Hard Ons – So I Could Have Them Destoryed – Vinyl 12″
Standard Black Vinyl

With eleven other studio albums under their belt, Australia’s Hard-Ons have added another scorching hot slab to their monolithic discography, this time with the glorious return of founding member Keish back on lead vocals. Twelve inches of wax containing twelve new songs that demonstrate an absolute mastery of their craft, along with a level of intensity that will leave your head spinning and your heart throbbing. Combining elements of hardcore punk, thrash, sludge, and power pop, while never adhering to the restrictions of genre, So I Could Have Them Destroyed is a laser focused masterwork of heavy rock music that stands shoulder to shoulder with (perhaps surpassing?) juggernauts like Yummy, Too Far Gone, and Love Is a Battlefield of Wounded Hearts. Yes, it’s that fucking good, and it’s available in North America through Wallride Records. Good luck finding the will to take this one off the turntable once the melodies are seared onto your frontal lobe. Featuring Cover art by Rockin’ Jellybean!

Higley - Vinyl 12" LP

WRR030
Higley – Vinyl 12″ LP
Standard Black Vinyl

Release Info

Higley’s debut LP is Now available in North America from Wallride!

Higley was born from strong friendships, and even stronger coffee.

Kevin Carl (G-WHIZ) is a songwriter with many friends. In 2008, with several songs written, but no current band to record them, Kevin reached out to his old friend Bill Stevenson (Descendents/Black Flag) and asked if he would be interested in playing drums on the songs. Bill agreed, and Kevin invited ex-bandmate Duane Kiener (G-WHIZ) to accompany him to Bill’s studio and play bass. Fueled by coffee and Mexican food, the duo travelled to Colorado and The Blasting Room, where they recorded drums, bass and guitar for five of the songs Kevin had written.

Shortly thereafter, various setbacks befell the members and everything was put on hold. In 2010, Kevin resurrected the project and reached out to another good friend and drummer, Bob Hoag (Pollen/The Go Reflex). Bob gladly agreed to play drums on four more of Kevin’s songs. These were recorded at Bob’s Flying Blanket Recording studio and Greg Gleason (G-WHIZ) and Duane split bass duties on these songs.

At this point, the project was still without a singer. In 2015, James Menefee (Fun Size/River City High) came on board, based on a recommendation by another old friend. James recorded vocals for the existing songs at Flying Blanket Recording, and also brought along two songs that he had written.

Kevin, Greg and James then traveled back to the Blasting Room in 2016 to record James’ songs and put the final touches on the existing songs. The resulting album is a testimony to friends, perseverance, food, and fun.

Shimmering, off-kilter indie pop that feels like it drifted in on a cold tide and decided to stay awhile. The Sw!ms blend jangly guitars, hazy synth textures, and bittersweet melodies into songs that are both dreamy and nervy — equal parts bedroom introspection and late-night highway glow. There’s a homespun warmth under the icy surface, with hooks that sneak up on you after the third spin. For fans of lo-fi pop, new-wave-tinged indie, and records that sound like winter but hit like summer nostalgia.

Drag The River – A Way With Women – Vinyl 7″ EP
Standard Black Vinyl

A raw little gut-punch from Colorado’s kings of broken-hearted alt-country, this 7″ captures Drag the River at their most stripped-down and honest. Ragged acoustics, weary harmonies, and Chad Price’s sandpaper voice carry songs about love gone sideways, bad decisions, and the kind of late-night regret that never quite fades. Equal parts country, folk, and punk-spirit confession, it’s the sound of bar lights coming on when you’re not ready to go home. Essential for fans of Lucero, early Drive-By Truckers, and anyone who likes their country music with scars showing.

Short, fast, loud, and angry. Punk/hardcore the way it was meant to be done. Ten songs of fast, thrashy, catchy hardcore that is built upon a steady diet of Cokes, circle pits, and a disgust for all things Republican. Like a cross between Minor Threat and Black Flag, they combine socially conscious lyrics with the frustration of living in an age where everyone else thinks they know the best way for you to live your life. This is the debut release from one of Maryland’s hardest working hardcore bands, so expect many more great things to come.
